How things work and what you need...

the hunt begins

thwane safaris …
has some food for thought

Thwane Safari’s offers on the Ranch an abundance of wildlife, and is by far the most diversified hunting area in the Limpopo Province, where action packed hunting takes place of most plains game, including Buffalo and Sable. Be sure not to miss out on our Special Packages for the first time African hunter for 2019.. Our main hunting season is between March and October as the weather during these times are comfortable with little or no rain.

We are focused to find you the best trophy possible as we have taken exceptional trophies in the past. Tailor made packages can be arranged to suite every hunters dream and budget in joint ventures with concessions in Zimbabwe and Zambia. With us you can be assured that the highest quality is carried through at all times.

Thwane Safari’s has now expanded in Bow Hunting with 7 spacious and comfortable drop-in hides (blinds) where trophies of your choice can be taken with ease. Hunting is more than a pastime or an autumn ritual for some…

it’s a way of life.

Dedicated hunters see the world with a special perspective. When they drive through farmland they don’t see wheat field and pastures, they see lost upland bird habitat. When they tour a new shopping mall, they don’t see new businesses, they see destroyed wildlife habitat. When they pass a forest, they don’t see trees, they see bedding cover, travel routes and feeding sites.

fire arms
& Ammunition

We suggest you bring the rifle or rifles you are most comfortable with, we also have a selection of appropriate calibers and ammunition available for hire if you feel comfortable in doing so. We recommend anything in the .30 caliber range for plains game and if hunting one of the Big 5 it is required by law that the minimum caliber should be 375. Depending on how many animals you intend to shoot we suggest abount 60 rounds of ammunition per caliber.

South African law prohibits any semi-automatic firearms and a limit of 200 rounds per caliber. It is essential to complete a temporary firearm permit application (SAP520) NB! It is important that the form is completed in black ink and must remain unsigned until the documents is finalized in front of the police official issuing the actual permit at the airport.
